Mason - you wrote in this Daily Inspiration of today 9/2/2026 "These ordeals are given to us "
Our relationship with God because of Christ is a relationship of love, not punishment. The ordeals happen to us, because we live in a world full of evil. Because of God's love for each of us, He is always with us to help to make the outcome one in His control when we turn to Him and give the ordeal to Him.
I hear too many people say God is punishing me - it's just not true - God is rescuing me!

Well said Carol. It has been very hard for me to understand that concept of punishment vs. God rescuing me so thanks for that note.

Re: God at Work 9/2/2026 Daily Inspiration
The human condition makes us think that God may be punishing us, especially when we are carrying around guilt & shame. When I first got clean & sober through recovery with a 12 step program, I thought for a couple of years that recovery was my punishment for all my years of drinking. As time went on & I sought God, I realized that recovery is a gift God wanted me to have. I was punishing myself with my addictions. God's mercy, grace & love has had a profound effect on my life. I married a wonderful man, we have 8 grandchildren, & I get to live in Florida. God, prayer, meditation, daily prayer website, the fellowship & program of the 12 steps help to keep me gounded through life's curve balls. Thank you Mason & all of you for being in my life. Blessings & Love, Cynthia NSB, FL

Carol, Just a thought on the 9.2 inspiration; I read it as “the trials are given to us” as, they happen to us - and not as God gives them to us….just thought I’d share my 2 cents..

Stephanie, thank you for sharing your"two cents". I appreciate you doing so. And Cynthia, you are so right. Guilt and shame are the human response to sin. Our loving God says "come to me, and I will give you rest. " Jesus took our sin and through faith in Him replaces the guilt and shame with joy and peace. And, although I can't say that exchange is immediate for me, believing this gives me hope and the desire to start again.
